Retraining a young bolting horse; Part 1
This is the first part of the journey of retraining a 6-year-old showjumping-bred gelding with a deep fear of riders, which had caused dangerous behaviors like bucking and bolting. After multiple failed attempts with other riders, this was considered his last chance. The process, documented on video, captures the difficult but essential first two rides following groundwork preparation. Although challenging and risky, I took on the horse personally (I don't want my staff to get hurt!) to give him the best chance. Now six weeks in, progress is visible (and will be shown in Part 2 and 3), and the horse shows natural talent and good temperament. He is currently on a break to process training, with ongoing updates planned. The goal is to build his confidence and ensure he feels safe and happy in his ridden work.
