MEET THE TEAM
Director of Your Horsemanship Ltd and Lead Horse Trainer
Jason grew up “in the saddle” in New South Wales, Australia, where he learnt techniques passed down through generations of horse and stockmen in his family. His desire to play polocrosse at the top level led to a lifelong obsession for understanding and training horses. On his arrival in the UK, Jason quickly gained an excellent reputation for starting young horses under saddle and retraining “problem horses,” and Your Horsemanship was born!
Outside of horses, Jason loves playing and watching all sports, and is kept very busy by his two teenage children! He is not one to say no to a cold beer, either…
Penny Webb, Business Manager
In 2020, Jason’s wife, Penny, retired from teaching, to work full-time within Your Horsemanship. With a background in Sports Marketing and having had an 18 year teaching career, Penny has always been involved in the business. In 2020, she joined full-time as Business Manager, and runs all aspects of Your Horsemanship Online, as well as being the first point of contact for horse owners. Penny still rides and plays polocrosse, and is the driving force behind our small stud, producing homebred polo and polocrosse ponies. Outside of work, Penny is basically a chef and taxi service, spending days in indoor arenas with Rosie and her ponies, and being at the side of an astro watching Jack play hockey… She also plays hockey herself and loves a party!
Jemymah Sturmer, Accounts Manager and Events Manager
Jem has worked for Your Horsemanship as the Yard Manager, and then Business Manager, before coming back part-time after having her daughter. She now runs our Accounts and Events, and we’d be completely lost without her! Previously, Jem worked on a number of top eventing and hunting yards, and enjoyed competing her own horse.
David Beekes, Horse Care Manager
David is originally from Zimbabwe and brings with him a lifetime of horsey knowledge. David runs the yard with care and efficiency, treating each horse like an individual and making sure they are well looked after when they are away from home. He’s a dab hand on the tractor, too! David lives on-site with his wife, Sally.
Sophie Hollands, Senior Groom and Rider Apprentice
We are delighted that Sophie has joined us as an Apprentice to complete her Level 3 Senior Equine Groom and Rider qualification. Sophie has been involved with horses all her life, and has gained experience on a number of other training and livery yards.
Hamish Gillanders – Your Horsemanship Associate Trainer
Hamish Gillanders started as an Apprentice Trainer at Your Horsemanship in 2017, and spent three years working alongside Jason before becoming a Your Horsemanship Associate Trainer, setting up his business at Risebridge Farm in 2020. His calm and thoughtful approach has proved successful with horses from a variety of disciplines and backgrounds, and he is a natural teacher. We are delighted to have contributed to the development of this talented and dedicated horse trainer, and look forward to supporting his progress in the future. Please contact him via his website hghorsemanship.co.uk.
